Basic Training For New Tournament Directors: We Want You As A New Recruit
Two quick and easy methods to become one
New groups of players are forming all the time. Many would like to become involved
in our tournament programs, but don't know how to run an official, sanctioned
event. Here's how to become a tournament director for either our Star Trek CCG
or Star Wars CCG games.
To provide you with a way to train that also allows you to count your training
as an officially sanctioned event, we have established two quick, easy ways you
can become an official tournament director. These two methods will replace all
previous ones. Here is all you have to do:
Method #1
OTSD-assisted sanctioning for "do-it-yourselfers"
You may sign yourself up as a director, and even assign yourself a temporary ID#.
You can download copies of score cards, as well as the Official Tournament Director's
Guide, from our website. Using this method, your first tournament must be an Enhanced
Sealed Deck tournament, using Decipher's Official Tournament Sealed Deck product.
Each case of this product contains a master copy of the score cards for these
events and a basic introduction to running a Decipher event. You must meet all
the basic requirements to have your first OTSD event sanctioned. You must post
the event to our Web site Tournaments locator and meet the 8-player minimum. Once
you've done that, the results can be used to finalize your application. When Decipher
receives your first set of sanctionable results, we will immediately send you
the directors start-up pack, including the new director's kit, a director's T-shirt,
the software, and a prize support for your next event. Your ID# will then become
permanent, so don't give it out to others!
To apply using method #1, select one:
Star Trek CCG director applications
Star Wars CCG director applications
Method #2
Volunteer-assisted sanctioning, for "a little extra help"
Contact one of your regional Ambassadors or Squadron Members to be signed-up as
a director. If that volunteer approves you, he or she will assign you a temporary
ID#. He or she can also help you with a temporary set of score cards, or with
downloading a copy of our director's guide, as well as give you ideas for promoting
and supporting your events. You may use your ID# to run any sanctioned format
event, provided that your first event is an OTSD Enhanced Sealed Deck tournament.
The volunteer can check the results for clear and accurate information if you
like, to make sure the results are sanctionable. When we receive your first set
of sanctionable results, we will send you the directors start-up pack, including
the new director's kit, a director's T-shirt, the software, and a prize support
for your next event. Your ID# will then become permanent, so don't give it out
to others!
