Territorial Open Championships
Are you interested in hosting a Championship Level tournament in your
store for The Lord of the Rings™ Trading Card Game and Star
Trek™ Customizable Card Game? With tournament and player numbers
for Decipher games at an all-time high, these events are sure to be huge
this year. Be sure to apply early for the best opportunity. Below you will
find most of the details that you will need to make your decision. If you

What is a Territorial Open Championship?
A Territorial Open Championship is a championship-level tournament where
players can earn spots in the World Championship and other cool prizes.
If you are familiar with Decipher's Championship Circuits in the past, these
tournaments are replacing the State Championships.
As the name implies, these tournaments are open to all players. However,
each state/province will only have one championship. So the Virginia Open
Champion could be someone from California. This will do two things:
1. Increase the attendance of your event
and exposure of your store
2. Generate more revenue for you
When will these Territorial Open Championships take place?
If you host one of these events, you will decide when to run the event.
We ask that all events be run between the following dates:
May 1, 2002 - June 30, 2002
How much will it cost to host an Territorial Open Championship?
It will cost $300. This will give you exclusive rights to host The
Lord of the Rings TCG Territorial Open Championship and the Star
Trek CCG Territorial Open Championship in your area.
What's in it for me? What does that $300 pay for?
First off, you will be the only store in your state/province (except
California, which will have two Territorial Open Championship events) which
will host one of these events. Decipher will promote the Territorial Open
Championships on our website with full event details, including the name
of your store.
All Territorial Open Championships should require a $15 USD (or non-US
equivalent) entry fee. The event will pay for itself if you have 20 participants
among the two events!
The following prizes should be awarded at the Territorial Open Championship
(provided to you by Decipher):
The Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game:
• First Place - Lord
of the Rings TCG Trophy Binder, Bye into Day 2 of the World Championship,
Bye into Day 2 of the Continental Championship
• Second Place - Lord of the Rings TCG Trophy Binder, Bye into
Day 2 of the Continental Championship
• 2 Displays of Lord of the Rings TCG product from Decipher
to be distributed among the players at the discretion of the Retailer/Tournament
Director.
Star Trek Customizable Card Game:
• First Place - Star Trek CCG Trophy Binder, Bye into Day 2
of the World Championship, Bye into Day 2 of the Continental Championship
• Second Place - Star Trek CCG Trophy Binder, Bye into Day 2
of the Continental Championship
• 2 Displays of Star Trek CCG product from Decipher to be distributed
among the players at the discretion of the Retailer/Tournament Director.
I have plenty of interest in The Lord of the Rings TCG, but
no local interest in Star Trek CCG. Do I have to run the Star Trek
Territorial Open Championship?
No, you don't have to, but we would encourage you to even if you don't
have a local player base. There will only be one Star Trek Territorial Open
Championship in each state. There may even be some players who come from
out of state to participate. You just might be surprised at the turn out.
It doesn't cost you any more money, and you do not get a discount if you
don't run the Star Trek event.

Sending this information does not guarantee you a Territorial Open Championship
in your store. Decipher will fill up the spots as we get qualified applications.
Decipher will contact you by April 19, 2002 if you are selected to host
one of these events.
