Secrets of the Jem'Hadar
By: Fredric Baril, frbaril@videotron.ca
Ah, these Jem'Hadar are the ones to be taken seriously. Let me review them
one by one and share what I know about each of them.
Azet'izan:
Definitely one of the best Jem'Hadar. A universal (see Young Jem'Hadar) Officer
(the only universal one) with leadership (a double leader-useful for initiating
battle) and Computer skill. He also possesses high strength, cunning and integrity
(for a universal).
Gurat'urak:
One of the greatest. He must be in your deck if only for the protection he gives
equipment. His Transporter skill is useful for boarding parties (read: Invasive
Beam-In) and his Navigation is useful for dilemmas and some missions.
Koret'alak:
Physics and Stellar Cartography are not very useful skills and with a strength
of only 8, he's barely making it in this review. I will not talk about him being
a Security as there are so many universal ones.
Limara'Son:
High strength and some useful skills. A good personnel, but maybe not of the same
rank as Gurat'urak and Makla'Gor.
Makla'Gor:
Very good Jem'Hadar. Astrophysics and Exobiology are not often asked for but when
needed, it's important to have them. His strength of 9 makes him worthy of inclusion
in your deck.
Temo'Zuma:
An Engineer with Transporter skill and Security... You should already find the
Transporter skill in Gurat'urak but this one possesses higher strength. Engineer
is very useful but being the first-listed skill it's of less use even if I don't
see Tsiolkovsky Infection that often.
Virak'kara:
Possesses Physics and Navigation - good skills, but not that useful. Has high
strength and integrity.
Yak'Talon:
Engineer listed as his first skill, a pity. The Computer skill is useful, but
Azet'izan (of your away team) already has it.
Young
Jem'Hadar: Go Jemmies! This one is GREAT. The only Jem'Hadar Civilian with
Youth. This Civilian Jem'Hadar will earn points in a Colony. But the best part
is his special skill and his reporting ability. With Jem'Hadar
Birthing Chamber, you can report one Young Jem'Hadar for free each turn, regardless
of quadrant. And at the end of your turn, you can exchange him for a universal
Jem'Hadar in hand... that's why the universal Jem'Hadars are so great.
Arak'Toral:
If only this one were universal... An Officer with high attributes, Transporter
skill and download of Invasive Beam-In. If you want to use Invasive Beam-In, however,
you'll seed it and won't wait for it to come. His Physics is good but you don't
need it too often and it's a fairly common skill among Jem'Hadar.
Meso'Clan:
You can find all his skills in universal personnels, but I do think this one should
be in your deck, he has good attributes and his download of Jem'Hadar Sacrifice
can save the day... and as his skills can all be found in universal personnels,
don't fear to sacrifice him.
Amat'igan:
Navigation and Stellar Cartography are not called for too often, but with such
high attributes and download of Security Sacrifice, he's worth the place in your
deck. Navigation X2 can come in handy.
Goran'Agar:
A good red-shirt and a Biology-bearer. What more can you ask for? He also has
very high skills, nullifies Hippocratic Oath, and he's one of the few Jem'Hadar
with a command star. Officer classification is better than Security for equipment
use. He's a must-have.
Omet'iklan:
An Officer with a command star and the clearance to attack other Dominion-affiliation
(remember that you can attack any
away team or ship with a dom-affiliation personnel among its crew)
Remata'Klan:
An Officer with a command star (it's a rare resource) with a Bashir-like download,
and Physics, too. Security is still good but found in quantity and Honor is not
better.
Talak'talan:
Why all the Physics and Astrophysics? Please tell me! I'm getting sick of them...
maybe it's time to have a mission requiring this? (or an espionage?) A Bashir-like
download with the usual skills. Would be of no use if it weren' for the Officer's
classification and strength.
Toman'torax:
Should be used. With a strength of 10 and pairing first in battle, your rationing
Vortas will be a bit safer. The best part: Engineer skill that is not first-lised
and Officer classification! Stellar Cartography is still a rarely asked for skill
and his integrity is low. Still, Toman'torax is a good Jem'Hadar in a battle deck.
Anyway, as someone wrote it in a previous article, the trick is to have the card
advantage. Young
Jem'Hadar and Jem'Hadar
Birthing Chamber give you exactly that (and remember the Birthing Chamber
is cumulative) and allows you to speed up reporting by a phenomenal rate. The
unique ones usually have higher stats and some of them have very useful skills.
