Why do I keep hearing that people think the modulate shields is ineffective vrs harvesters? ... 8472 ... 08.19-00:38 |
What I have heard once too often is someone saying that they will choose not to stun the borg with their harvester so the borg player will not be able to adapt to it. Why do they think that is the only way to stun the comm drone?
This is my scenereo... I am playing borg, have assimilate counterpart objective and have beamed over (a com drone) and we have started combat. My opponent is playing Vidiian and has a harvester with his crew. The harvester is a weapon, and as such increases the strenght of each member. (provided that I have not paired with Danara) The Vidiian player wins the pairing and my drone is stunned (or mortally wounded). In pairing I have encountered the harvester through it's strenght bonus. In doing so this fulfils the requirement for me to be able to adapt to it. Once I have adapted my drone's organs cannot be stolen because Organ Theft specificly states it uses the Harvester. I see nothing that gives the Vidiian player any choice or option. So, how hard is it to set up my scenereo. You require a com drone, a change of plans, and the adapt:modulate shields. (Possibly other things such as a ship to deliver the drone, the transport drone to pass shields. These are all normal gameplay things you want to add anyway.) These three cards are easy to obtain through drones or the queen's special skill or just throwing in a few extra change of plans to your deck. Note you do not need the assimilation table etc, that's only if you want to acutally win and take over. Your target will also need to have a harvester (duh). I would recomend waiting for a non-Vidiian (unless you know he does not have the plague in hand) or non-Kazon (and male, non holligram or animal) to target for assimilation. With how hapily they are to work with others I have not seen a deck where this is a problem. So... I play Borg as normal. When I encounter Vidiians it's just a drone to dispatch me of the problem. The modulate shields is very effective. Thanks 8472 |
