Blood Oath Decks
by Chris “Rom” Brennan

The basics:  Blood Oath is a great way to get 4 Klingons, their ships, and some weapons into play.  These decks are both based on that concept, but executed differently.  First, you need to get the Oath in play; that’s easily done with Defend Homeworld for Kang.  Then you need another personnel, not a problem if you use Obelisk to look at another hand of cards.  Then you need to download more personnel; Kivas Fajo will help that.  Having a second Dax helps you get started, and she tends to die to many dilemmas so it’s worth having another, especially for downloadable Science.

The first deck is focused on beating up the opponent.  When you get one matching ship with Blood Oath, you can use Make It So for Captain’s Logs.  There’s a RRD in the other deck too, but that’s to get an extra personnel with skills you might need, or to use the Logs for defense.  There’re 2 options for ASP, in case you need another Diplomacy or need to beat Executive Authorization.

A key card in each deck is the Gr’oth.  In the battle deck, you need the download just to staff the ship, and for Captain Koloth’s attribute boost.  That’s 10 weapons without even using a card play.  (Use the SD for another personnel if you can use RRD for Koloth to make that 11 weapons.)  In the second deck, its benefit is the ability to get a variety of skills on a moment’s notice.  (If you need staffing without using the ability, use ASP for Kered.  Though you’ll probably have a K’chiQ for that.)

The missions in the second deck are a lot easier in general, but looking at the matching commanders, the first deck’s missions are better for the skills already there.  Make It So and the Battle Bridge are the 2 differences between the seed decks, being switched for 2 artifacts.

The mission solver has a lot more card drawing, but that’s because it has more interrupts and Q’s Tents, the battle deck just uses the Tent to hold download cards.

These 2 decks show that with those 4 personnel and 3 ships you have some different options.  They have a good mix of skills and raw battle power.  Each of these examples takes one of those options to an extreme; you can follow that or find a balance between them.
