Borg Speed Deck Brian Kallenbach, Rebel Base Assistant December 1997 About the deck: TASK: Establish Transwarp Connections. Begin assimilation of Human and Romulan Homeworlds. It has the power to assimilate, but this deck's real value is its speed. With the Borg Scout Vessel's ability to appear at the end of the spaceline, it's not too hard to navigate around the problem of your Outpost's Delta Quadrant position. Add in a few Scout Encounters and Undetected Beam-Ins to quickly get a ship on the spaceline, especially if your opponent begins by running a single character into a mission from the Outpost. Later, if things aren't going well and your opponent is playing Romulan or Federation, assimilating a homeworld is less difficult than you might anticipate. With the Procurement Drone, grabbing the Assimilation Table is a snap, and the Scout Encounter/Undetected Beam-In combo can easily get a ship and drones on your opponent's ship. With lucky draws in the battle, you can capture a suitable target for Assimilate Counterpart. After you get him back on your ship, with a good probe on the homeworld, your opponent is slowed considerably. Eliminate Starship lets you pick on his ships with the Borg Cubes. They won't be back anytime soon. With your opponent's resources weakened, take it slow and scout a location for Establish Gateway, despite the fact that a good Counterpart and Assimilate Homeworld can very nearly win the game for you. The only real problem this deck has is its size, which can be a pain if you don't get a ship early and your opponent is starting out slow as well. A quick Remodulation, Masaka Transformation, or Kivas Fajo can get cards into your hand quickly. Mirror Image can help your opponent, but, fortunately, it won't cramp your style, so it's business as usual for you. A Borg deck with a lot of cards is multi-dimensionally nasty...which makes the loss of three cards to your opponent irrelevant.
