Oh, I imagine some keep secrets not because they are worried that a player in their area will find out but because one player could tell another and with the power of the information hiway --- soon a player in their area *IS* playing with or is ready for their secret. I have no secrets. I'm just a Plain, Simple Strategist.

I like playing Borg too. Have you looked at Mot's Advice on the Borg at http://home.earthlink.net/~evanl/index.html There is excelent advice here as well as a Borg swarm deck [#22] that could be modified with EFC cards such as Service the collective and Gowron of Borg and Tomalak of Borg and Bariel of Borg. [*you might want to add a couple more adapt: negate obstructions too*]
Another thought is to just go to gamma and assimilate planets.
I mention gamma because I think it could play into your dilemmas. See if you have a sheliak or two you could take advantage of the shortened spaceline in gamma.
But you could also build a nice cube deck and do the two dual icon missions for a pretty fast 100 points.
