Howdy fellow Ambassadors,

Well, a variety of cross-roads are starting to converge, and it's time for
me to resign as the Ambassador to Dallas, Texas.  Since 1999 I've enjoyed
reading everyone's e-mails and being a champion for Decipher products.
However, I will be starting graduate school next semester, and feel I can't
devote the time needed to the program any more.

Since this is my "last call" I'll go ahead & air a couple of gripes.  First,
since 1999 we've been hearing about the fabulous volunteer page that will be
going up shortly on decipher.com.  I'm sad that Decipher never considered
this a big enough priority to get it done.  I have no doubt that some
collectors could have been turned into players with just a simple
point-and-click.

Second, the cancellation of DecipherCon 2001 had a large impact on the STCCG
scene in Dallas.  A large group of our core players (including myself) had
planned to attend, and instead were stuck with worthless plane tickets.
This would have been my first big convention attended as an Ambassador, and
I was looking forward to working the show, so I think I was the one most let
down by the decision.

It's about this time that I noticed both attendance and interest drop off in
local tournaments.  After struggling to keep it together for the past year,
most of the local players are calling it off and selling off their sets.  I
haven't seen a lot of interest in 2nd Edition so far.

Don't get me wrong, I consider that water under the bridge.  Since 1994 I've
loved playing Trek.  I hope it has a great future, and that 2nd Edition
blows everyone out of the water.  I also hope that Decpiher comes out with a
Trek collectible miniatures game soon :)

I plan to stay active in local collectibles as much as I can.  I continue to
contribute articles to Scrye (I'm working on a 3-article series on the
MechWarrior: Dark Age miniatures game) and will hopefully make it to a "big"
convention one of these days.  Take care everyone,

Bart McLeroy

--My genius, if I can call it that, is to
combine a whole load of averageness into
one compact frame.
