Last week during a family vacation to Iowa, I managed to sneak in a visit with Pam Covell and some of the local players at Mayhem Collectables in Ames.

<< Side Note: I also tried to set up a visit with with Brian Schrader, the Ambassador to Emporia Kansas, but I wound up driving through Emporia instead of stopping there due to family scheduling complications. Maybe next time, Brian ...>>

Mayhem is located on Lincoln Way in Ames, right across the street from the Iowa State University Campus.  I've been visiting games stores across the country for the better part of 20 years (I did alot of travelling while in the military), and Mayhem is one of the better stores I've visited - lots of stock in a variety of games types.  Their STCCG stock was also quite good - the store managed to get about $40 out of me on that visit.

I had a real nice visit with Pam, her husband Chris, and several of the local STCCG and LOTR players.  They had a 3-player STCCG game and several LOTR games going on when I got there - and Pam and I managed to sneak in a game.  I won't go into to many details, except to say that when you drive 1000 miles to play a game with a fellow ambassador, make sure you bring along the right dilemma combos :/

All in all, I had a great time, and wound up spending about 3 hours at Mayhem between playing and chatting.  I highly encourage any of you or your players to stop by and visit with Pam and her folks.

And Pam, thanks again for the chat and the game - it was a great evening.  And if I make it to Worlds this fall, I'll try and bring a real deck with me ;)
