Ambassador Report - July 2003
Ambassador: Matt Clouser

1.Retail/Player Information from your area:

Retailer Scene: There are still NO stores in my area that support STCCG products and activities.  As I reported staring in January, Hastings is no longer reserving space for me for my monthly demos - mainly because I haven't had any attendees at a public demo since October.  They still allow me to show up and do small demos, but on a space available basis.

CCG Scene:  CCG Scene:  CCG activity remains low in the area - Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic are the most prominent.  The Yu-Gi-Oh gatherings on Thursday evenings at Hastings have tapered off a bit this month, probably due to vacations/holidays.  Magic and Pokemon are also on a decline, again probably due to summer vacations/holidays.

STCCG remains on life-support.

2. What have you done "For Love Of The Game" in the past month?:

Tournaments: None

Demos: One on July 27th - got to try out the decks with the new Energize cards included.  Did one demo for two high-school kids.  Gave them a couple of starter decks (Fed and Klingon).  Found the decks near the exit about 30 minutes later - one was in the garbage and unrecoverable.  Not my best day.

3. What new target (store, gaming clubs, special event) are you planning to establish contact with in the next month to promote Decipher games. What plans are you making to help current stores become more self-sufficient?

Same story, different month.  My 1E players have showed NO interest in 2E, and I have not been able to attract new blood to the game.

My sole bright spot this month was "All Good Things"  Several of us old "1E" Players got together to open our boxes.  Loved the most of the new cards!   One of us got a boz with 4 foil Resikan Flutes.  Fortunately, I got two of the same foil and so did another, so we traded to even out the problem.  Of course, now we ALL have foil Resikan Flutes :/

4. Feedback on Special Promotional events held that month…successes, shortcomings, suggestions for improvement, player/retailer comments

POSITIVE

None.

NEGATIVE

Not much interest in STCCG locally.  I've heard ALOT of bad lip on Star Trek recently, which of course makes MY job even harder.

5. Retailer Store(s) or venues you have run your demos/tournaments:

None ...

Until next month....
