Pretty much the same here - I've charged $5 per tourn since I started running them several years back. The $5 is paid to the store hosting the tourn, and we'll usually get about 10% off retail on the packs which go towards prize support. Now that prize support is alot more reliable, I can usually get at least 3-4 packs to each player, plus a few extras and the foils for winners.
When we were getting boxes, I would save up packs from the "lean" tournaments and use them when I managed to get large turnouts. As I mentioned in my earlier post, most of my players have no interest in the foils, but prefer the packs as prize support.
This is why we went toward auctioning one of the two foils - to get the players more of what they want - while still getting a foil out in local circulation for the few who do care them.
This arrangement has proven very popular with my player base, and is much more generous then the other CCG prize support around here.
