I'd like to discuss the following issue with you : What perception does your gaming community have of you? Please ask yourself this question.

This is brought on by some distributor and player feedback I've received. We all know that Product Champion repsonsibilities are far from limited to tournaments, but yet it would seem that in some areas Product Champions are seen nothing more than glorified TDs.

Here's what I do in San Angelo,

-  I help organize and coordinate tournaments with my local TD's (two at the moment, but one is the local LOTR Ranger and his time is mostly spent on LOTR).

-  Coordinating tournaments and special events with our single retailer willing to support ST and LOTR.

-  I also coordinate the local prize support after tournaments.  Yes, I've been told by other ambassadors that I am "doing it wrong", but we give out one foil card to a tournament winner (winner's choice) and sell the other one for cash - which we turn around and buy extra packs for more prize support.  This is because most of my players couldn't care less about foils.  (Fellow ambassadors - don't bother to chastise me on this again - I really don't want to hear it, and I ain't changing my longstanding policy.  If a Decipherite want's to take me to task over this - fine, but please do it in a private email).

-  Conducting weekly ST warp speed demos usually on Saurday afternoons.

-  Acting as local "card librarian" for common and uncommon ST cards.  I also build "starter decks" for each affiliation from the card library when a player wants to change deck strategies - or if I manage to get a new player interested.

How do the other players/TD's view me?  You'll have to ask them.

How do I view my job as PC?  Simply to build up and maintain interest in the STCCG product line and to support local players.  I focus on that as my "mission", and all other issues - TD's, prize support, special events, etc - I line up to support my "mission".
