Biography: James Smagata

Madhouse you hail from:
Welland, Ontario, Canada

What makes you think you're so great:
I have a B.A. (bugger all) in Drama.I have been an actor, singer, songwriter, technician, designer, Theatre Technical Manager (Grande Prairie Regional College, Alberta), audio board operator, lighting designer and board operator, followspot operator, smooth operator, artist, cartoonist, theatre consultant, recording engineer, stand-up comedian, carpenter, filmmaker, model builder, self-made computer super-genius (ahem), Chief of Production Services (Centrepointe Theatre, Nepean. ON), director, photographer, scenic painter, webmaster (www.theatreerindale.com), Stagecraft instructor and floor sweeper. I am currently serving out my 16th year at the University of Toronto, Mississauga, as Technical Director for the Theatre and Drama Studies program (a unique 4-year shared course with Sheridan College, Oakville, ON). My first stab at audio post-production was for an independent film (complete BG and foley) that was up for broadcast on CBC (wooo), but the film went bust (not my fault!). I continue to wake up each morning, check the obits for my name, and if it's not there, I have breakfast.

Skeletons in the Closet:
I have never seen a complete Dr. Who episode. I have only seen the first half of the pilot episode of Heroes (twice! Then I gave up). I am seasons behind in Smallville, Stargate (both) (the only shows I used to watch), but now ol' slave-driver Heaney keeps me too busy. Despite being Canadian, I am not a hockey fan, but I do wear a touque occasionally - when it's cold - in DECEMBER. I DO like back bacon, but don't drink beer, and I don't say "eh" in general conversation, except to make a point, eh?
